Project Description: Jackson Preparatory School New Junior High

The Junior High project is a 27,500 square foot $4.4M gut renovation. The project houses the 5th through 8th grades of Junior High. The project consists of 21classrooms, 6 of which are science labs and one computer lab. It also houses a new Administrative Area and Teachers Suite. The Administrative Area consists of offices, work rooms, conference room, Lobby with Gallery space, staff rest rooms and reception. The Teachers Suite consists of work room, mail room, offices, staff rest room, break area, counseling and consultation rooms.The classrooms are divided into Fifth and Sixth grade “RED” hall and a Seventh and Eight grade “BLUE” hall. The shared classroom and lab space located between the two halls. Each hall has collaborative space and common areas. All common area seating and furniture is designed to encourage interaction without peer group intimidation. The collaborative spaces include quiet study areas, break out group rooms, charging station and work areas. The hallways have both book lockers and activity equipment storage.The Science Labs are equipped with partition dividers to provide flexibility to convert 3 rooms into 6and separate lab space from classroom space. The labs are furnished with mobile workstations to increase flexibility. Each lab is accessible from both the “RED” and the “BLUE” hall.
